Texas High School Increases Security Following Social Media Threat

Duncanville High School enhanced its security measures on Monday after two students were put in police custody for making a threat against the school on Sunday.

Duncanville High School increased its security measures and police visibility on Monday after two students were arrested Sunday for a threatening Instagram post.

It is not known what the threat said, however, in a tweet, Duncanville ISD called it “concerning.”

Not only did students see more police, they also had to walk through metal detectors on Monday.

"Making a threat toward a school district is a criminal offense whether it is a hoax or not," Duncanville ISD said in a statement on Twitter. "School officials and law enforcement take these cases seriously and conduct thorough investigations. When identified, this person could face criminal charges."

Duncanville High School released a statement on Twitter Sunday night saying that police have identified the source of the threat.

In another tweet, the high school said “We treat every security concern directed to our school or students very seriously, and take steps accordingly. We also recognize the emotional impact that a threat like this has on students. With that in mind, we will have classes Monday and counselors will be available.”
