On Nov. 30, 2021, Ethan Crumbley killed four students and wounded seven other in a school shooting in Oxford, Mich. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 2023 after pleading guilt to four counts of murder, one count of terrorism, and 19 other charges.

The program’s mission is to provide financial support to individuals in schools throughout the United States who have selflessly acted in ways to keep others safe during emergency situations.
i-PRO Co., Ltd. (formerly Panasonic Security), a provider of professional security solutions for surveillance and public safety, recently announced that the Buffalo Public School District (BPSD) has modernized its security footprint with i-PRO multi-sensor and 360° fisheye network cameras, and i-PRO NV300 network video recorders (NVR). The BPSD serves 28,000 K-12 students out of 70 facilities in western New York.
The Justice Department recently announced its annual plan for making anticipated grant funding available this fiscal year to advance public safety activities and improve justice system outcomes. The Department is inviting community-based organizations; state, local, Tribal, and territorial government agencies, including law enforcement agencies; research institutions; and nonprofit entities to apply for funding from more than 200 grant programs, administered by its Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), and Office on Violence Against Women (OVW). As in prior years, the awards will be made later this year, subject to appropriations, and will build on almost $5.8 billion in grants awarded in Fiscal Year (FY) 2023.

Though the details of the transaction were not disclosed, the release notes that the acquisition marks Motorola’s commitment to improving safety and security in spaces like schools, hospitals, hotels, and businesses.
