John Meza, the Director of Student Affairs and District Safety for the Tempe Union High School District and retired Chief of Police for the City of Mesa, will speak on the importance of maintaining a trained response to a crisis and violent situations. Director Meza will also discuss the importance of lock-down procedures and emphasize on building confidence in the school environment with both staff and students. The session will also cover the importance of working together with local police departments and utilizing effective strategies in preventing school violence.
