Forsyth County Schools has instituted the Student Advocacy Specialist program to identify and implement potentially harmful actions by students in the K-12 setting. With an increase in the number of students harming themselves, suicidal ideation and uttering suicidal comments, school officials have taken a proactive approach to identify those threats, and treat students by supporting families and students. The school district also works hand-in-hand with local law enforcement the county division of family and children services to identify all types of threats, and ensure that future signs of violence are dealt before an action is taken.
