Texas Teen Arrested for Reporting School Shooting

A 13-year-old girl was arrested after she reported another student's plans to shoot up New Braunfels Middle School.

A Texas teen was arrested for reporting another student’s plans to shoot up New Braunfels Middle School.

The mother of the 13-year-old girl said her daughter was asked by another student to participate in the shooting, and after she saw a male student with “7 days” written on a male student’s arm she decided to report it.

“That sparked a little more concern for her so she went and approached her coach,” said her mother Sam to News 4 San Antonio.

The girl provided statements to both the principal and safety officer of what she knew about the incident. However, some time later, she was arrested.

“My mind was blown. How does my daughter report a terroristic threat and get charged for the terroristic threat,” questioned Sam.

After spending a night in a juvenile detention center, Sam’s daughter was released. It is not known when the teen will be back in court.

New Braunfels ISD did release a statement on the incident and outlined what would happen if a threat is reported that turns out to be false.

“In any instance when a report is made and found to be non-credible or false, we do our due diligence to find out about the source. If a report is found to be false and has caused a disruption to school operations, the student or students responsible could possibly face consequences both through the school and law enforcement.”
