Catholic Students Accused of Making Threats While Wearing V for Vendetta Masks

Police in a Detroit suburb are seeking criminal charges against students suspected of making masked threats against a Catholic high school on social media.

The Novi Police Department in Michigan have identified five individuals who are responsible for making threats against Detroit Catholic Central High School.

Detroit Catholic Central High School, which is located in Detroit suburb Novi, was shut down Friday after someone wearing a mask on social media threatened the school.

“Novi Police, with the support of the school’s administration, began its investigation on Friday, Oct. 25 into comments made on social media in reference to the high school. The investigation began after a parent reported their child had told them an individual wearing a “Guy Fawkes” mask from the movie “V for Vendetta” was making unsettling statements via social media to students at the high school,” a press release from NPD stated.

Three other students are said to be accomplices.

Several days later, on Oct. 31, another Guy Fawkes picture threat was circulated claiming during Mass on Friday a killing would take place, according to the release.

A student from Catholic Central High School who was not related to the first incident was found to be behind this post.

“The criminal acts involved are punishable by a charge up to a 20-year felony for making terroristic threats. Detroit Catholic Central High School will be levying applicable school discipline to the four students involved. Classes are scheduled to resume normal activity on Tuesday, Nov. 5.” the release stated.
