ABOUT THE SUMMIT

This Campus Security Summit is a one-day event for security and safety campus and education officials to learn about new solutions and technologies for campus security, emergency response and management, and public and life safety. During the summit, attendees will have a rare opportunity to hear firsthand stories from police chiefs who are in charge of some of the largest school districts in Texas, as well as network and learn vital information from industry experts and each other on crisis communication, event security, the Clery Act and more.

7:45 AM - 8:30 AM Registration/Breakfast
8:30 am - 9:45 am Opening Keynote Chief Craig Miller will discuss the state of public education school safety in campuses. He will also discuss how municipal police SROs (School Resource Officers) look and conduct their jobs versus how a true ISD police department completes their job duties.
10:00 am - 11:15 am Understanding the Clery Act Alison Kiss will speak about the foundations of the Clery Act and how colleges and universities can make plans to implement. During the presentation, participants will have a chance to analyze requirements of the Clery Act and receive ideas for planning and implementation of the law.
10:00 am - 11:15 am Active Shooter Patrick V. Fiel, Sr. will present current information that will help campus administrators and emergency responders prepare for a potential crisis situation involving an active shooter on a school campus. He will also inform attendees on how to deal with an active shooter prior to police arrival.
11:30 am - 2:00 pm Networking Session/Lunch
2:15 pm - 3:30 pm Event Security, Tips and Tactics Joseph Parks will present information on established security procedures and safety measures for incidents that may happen on campus. He will also discuss issues relating to safety planning and preparedness.

2:15 pm - 3:30 pm Emergency Communication/Incident Response Patrick V. Fiel, Sr. will discuss ways that can help campus administrators prepare for any special events such as sporting events, concerts or any activities that bring in large crowds to their schools or campuses. He will provide information on how schools can identify potential shortfalls in their campus security.
